Paulo Simão explores stylistic resources of painting with codes of design and advertising. In his work, we find references to the painter Giorgio Morandi, the designer and plastic artist Bruno Munari or the writer and filmmaker Guy Debord.
Identity, history, society and politics cohabit with models of mass production and mass communication, function and perception of objects, the relation of the individual with the media and social networks in the time of accumulation and exhaustion of the image.
Paulo Simão was born in 1973 in Santarém, Portugal. He studied Advertising in IADE, Lisbon. Paulo currently lives in Lisbon where he also works as a graphic designer.
