Run Jiang is a Chinese artist currently living and working in Lisbon.
Her work deals with femininity and a deep desire of freedom in creation. Using economic means, she develops symbolic figures trapped in some sort of actions, revealing with humour, absurd or apparent illogical narratives. They are quick snapshots of a vast, mysterious inner world which lets the spectator uneasy by their ambiguity of meaning.
She works with painting, drawing, sculpture, performance and installations. In her exhibitions she often creates peculiar ambiences using light, darkness and colors.
Run obtained a Master of fine arts with “félicitations” at the Marseille-Méditerranée Art School in France. She also has a bachelor in Cinema taken in China Academy of Art and studied theatre at the Paris 8 University. She was recently selected for the 11º prémio Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso.
